Tall, imposing and possessing a deep baritone voice, actor Yul Edochie has a presence that transcends TV screens.

Son of popular Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, Yul has risen through the ranks to become a respected actor in his own right.
The actor had his breakout role in 2005, in Exquirers, starring alongside Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa. He continued on that trajectory in 2007 when he appeared in Sleek Ladies with Ini Edo and in Wind of Glory working with Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot.
Yul has since then featured in over 100 movies, favouring movies with indigenous flavour, showcasing the rich culture and history of the Igbo people.
He is more than just an actor, Yul is also socially conscious. In 2017, he contested in the Anambra state gubernatorial elections under the Democratic People’s Congress (DCP) political party. He lost to Willie Obiano.
Though the venture was not successful, it fueled a political passion in the actor. He was appointed as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Creative and Entertainment Media to the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano. Yul had at this time, switched his political alliances to All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) from DCP.
Five months into his appointment, Yul announced that he was resigning as SSP to pitch his tent with Atiku Abubakar who was contesting in the Presidential elections of 2019. He switched parties again, this time to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku Abubakar did not win the 2019 elections but Yul has remained socially conscious. He continually uses his social media platforms to express his views on the political state of the country and share his opinions on the Nigerian movie industry.
The actor is NET Honours Class of 2020 Most Popular Actor, an award well deserved.
