Paramount Pictures and Nile Entertainment have entered a strategic West African distribution partnership for “Children of Blood and Bone,” the highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel. The deal signals a major step in expanding the film’s reach across the region’s rapidly growing cinema market.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Thuso Mbedu, Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ayra Starr, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Pamilerin Ayodeji, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Regina King—bringing together a powerful mix of global and African talent.
As part of the agreement, Nile Entertainment will oversee the theatrical rollout of select titles from both Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures across West Africa, reinforcing its position as a key distribution force in the region. The partnership is expected to strengthen cinema access in major markets including Nigeria and Ghana.
Speaking on the development, Moses Babatope, Group CEO of The Nile Group, described the deal as a significant milestone. “UIP represents two of cinema’s most esteemed studios globally, and we are honoured to be entrusted with their titles in West Africa. We are dedicated to serving our audiences, supporting our exhibitor partners, and contributing to the sustainable growth of the region’s theatrical market,” he said.
Also commenting, Cameron Hogg highlighted the region’s growing potential. “West Africa continues to grow as a theatrical market. With audiences expanding, cinema infrastructure evolving, and exhibitors investing in premium experiences, the region is entering a new phase. We look forward to working closely with Nile as we bring a lineup of Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures releases to audiences across Nigeria, Ghana, and the wider Anglophone West African market.”
