Speaking exclusively with TheNetNg, Pepenazi disclosed that he doesn’t see all the other nominees as competitors, rather he sees their nomination a breakthrough for them all.
‘All the nominees are absolutely deserving of the award. They are all doing fine. Ycee has ‘Jagaban’, Young GreyC has ‘Chukwuma’, Baseone has ‘Weyre re’ while Humblesmith has ‘Osinachi’ and these are songs which are doing well across the country, Pepenazi said.
He spoke further, ‘I am happy that we are being recognised. This is our generation, this is our time and so you putting us in that category is an encouragement to the effort we have put into out work and even a prompting to do more.’
‘For me it is progress for everyone, it is not rivalry, it is not a competition. I see it as a way of challenging us to do more and who knows, next year we might be in the Next Rated category’’ he concluded.
