Chris Ihidero has said Nigerians should expect the continued interest and entry of international streaming services in Nollywood based on the growth potentials of the Nigerian movie industry.
The filmmaker also said there is an opportunity to show off Nigeria’s huge storytelling talent, and culture, as our films go global.
Global streaming services like Netflix have entered the Nigerian movie industry which is the second-largest film industry in the world and Ihidero believes this is just the beginning.
In an interview with CNN, the respected Nigerian filmmaker said Nollywood has been at the forefront of projecting Africa to the global stage and has the potential to do more.
He said: “I think that Nollywood has been at the forefront of showcasing Africa in a certain way. Over the years I think that what’s beginning to happen – and I say beginning because it’s very early days yet – is a recognition of Nollywood’s possibilities.”
