I know that the easiest exercise to do is running… as in running away from problems. And the most enjoyable one is sit ups… as in sitting up to watch television.
But keeping fit is actually a great idea. I thought to s.h.a.r.e some great ways of keeping fit with your regular schedule.
10. Get a dog: You already know great reasons to get a dog- they bark and scare people, and they are man’s best friend. But now, you should get a dog so you can walk your dog and get some exercise in.
9. Pace: Taking a phone call? Walk. Angry at someone? Walk around. Need to pray? Do a prayer walk. Incorporate pacing and walking whenever you can.
8. Beach: Forget what you see in the movies. This is not about singing love songs while your lover chases you. But go to the beach with friends and play beach soccer or walk by the waves. The sand gives extra pressure so you get more for less.
7. Dance: Got an invite to a friend’s party? Please go. Go clubbing, go partying and get ready to dance. Dancing is actually a great way to burn calories.
6. Get a bicycle: Hey, Lagos is already bicycle friendly so why not get one now and ride around at the weekend if you can’t ride your bike to work?
5. Make a friend: Or keep the ones you have. The point is, when you have someone to do it with, it is a lot easier and more fun. So make a friend and go for one of those classes like zumba classes. Or you could just have a jogging partner
4. Squat while brushing: If you do your squats while you brush your teeth and you brush your teeth twice a day, imagine how many squats you can get in?!
3. Keep your dumbbells by the television: Watching ‘The Mentalist’? Why not get your biceps in great shape as well. There are some great exercises you can do in your living room as well, with or without the dumbbells.
2. Don’t drive, walk!: We are sometimes quick to get on a bus or drive down to places where we can walk to instead. If you are going to the supermarket or somewhere close by, why not just walk? You have heard it before, now do it!
1. Take the stairs!: Sometimes you have to skip the elevator and take the stairs. And if you work where you have to take the stairs daily then lucky you.
Hope these help. Where all else fails, remember, the best exercise is…
There you go!
