US actor-comedian, Robin Williams is dead, causing loud grief to echo across the world he touched with his talent.
He was found dead at his North California home on Monday, August 11, 2014.
The cause of his death has been reported to be suicide by asphyxia (a condition in which insufficient or no oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged on a ventilatory basis; caused by choking or drowning or electric shock or poison gas), although there has been no official confirmation.
Sources say he was battling depression. An autopsy will be carried out today.
Celebrities including actor, Steve Martin and US President Barack Obama have paid tribute to the late actor.
‘I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul’, Martin tweeted.
‘Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien — but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most — from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets’ Obama wrote in a statement.
‘I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken’, his wife of three years Susan Schneider said.
Williams, one of the world’s greatest comedians, was 63.
