The Creative Industry Awards is around the corner and search for the creative entrepreneur of the year in Nigeria has begun. According to the organisers of awards, The Creative Entrepreneur Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the project looks to ‘reward initiative, talent, creativity and entrepreneurship across the creative industries.
The awards will also be recognising the central role they play in the development of a competitive and sustainable creative economy. The award is open to all Nigerian entrepreneurs (anywhere in the world) in the creative industry but must be above the age of 21 years and must have been running a business for a minimum of two years.
‘One of the key objectives of this programme is to sensitise the Nigerian creative sector to the opportunities that abound in Nigeria, while showcasing and rewarding those that have taken the bull by the horn. A second objective is to better understand the dynamics of being an entrepreneur in the creative economy. Throughout the programme we seek opportunities to achieve both this sensitisation and understanding’, Wale Ewedemi Director General of CEAN, explains.
There will be only 10 nomination categories; however one overall winner from the lot will be declared the Creative Entrepreneur of the Year.
The awards will hold at British Council Creative Industry Expo on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
