It was the battle of the sexes on last week’s episode of the Knorr Taste Quest, as the show decided to pit the male and female contestants against each other in a group task.
To help them accomplish this task, there was a surprise appearance by season one winner and first runner up, Lalu Surdiham and Patricia Allison. The duo joined the male and female teams respectively to guide, instruct and lead with the day’s task. They were, however, not allowed to be physically involved in the food preparation.
The task of the day was to prepare a two course meal using the following ingredients: Ogbono, Okra, Honey, Sausage, Fettuccini, Quinoa, Lemon, Lettuce, Oatmeal, Oxtail, Cornish Hens, Knorr Chicken, and Knorr Original.
The meals were judged based on presentation, taste and completing the brief within 55 minutes. Amongst the contestants, Doom was told to head the female team, while Moses was tasked to lead the male team.
Getting to work immediately, the guests instructors, Lalu and Patricia, showed their prowess in the kitchen as they directed and instructed their teams on how to prepare the perfect meal, bringing back good memories of Knorr Taste Quest season one.
After a very fast paced 55 minutes, the groups were told to present their meals. The guys went first and got very good reviews from all three judges, but for the girl’s team, it was a different case as the judges were disappointed by the meal presented. The boys team was crowned winner of the week’s task and they were rewarded with the sum of N20,000 by Knorr.
The drama did not end there. The judges told Patricia to present the weakest link in the female team. Without hesitation, she chose Chinelo, saying she felt she didn’t contribute her quota to the task. Since Doom was the team lead, both ladies were called to the judges’ table and it was almost sure they would be handing over their knives. However, at the last minute, the judges decided to put them both on probation, giving the ladies another chance to fight for the Knorr Taste Quest Season 2 crown!
Another roller coaster ride on the show, still eight contestants left, but only one will emerge winner. With this task, does that prove that guys are indeed better cooks than women or was it just luck?
