In just a matter of days, the curtain will draw on this season of the biggest reality show in Africa – BBNaija. Year after year, the show has proven to be a great source of entertainment for fans and viewers. And a major contributor to this entertainment is Big Brother and the twists he serves. Each season, Biggie doesn’t spare the housemates with his twists as this is an integral part of the show’s gameplay.
Each twist is deliberate and structured to make the housemates step up their game and serve the fans better content. Biggie loves to keep fans and housemates alike on their toes. In Biggie’s house, being comfortable isn’t an option because he is constantly changing things up. And as the saying goes, you snooze, you lose!
Now let’s take a look at all the twists Biggie has pulled off so far this season:
- BBNaija Wildcards
At the start of the show, Big brother introduced two wildcard housemates, Maria and Pere. The rest of the housemates were required to fish them out by getting to know each other, and the wildcards also had to successfully keep their identity undisclosed to be allowed to play the game and compete for the grand prize. At the end of the week, the housemates didn’t figure them out, which allowed the wildcards to stay on and play as actual housemates.
- Introducing 4 new housemates
After the first Sunday live eviction show, Biggie shocked the housemates by replacing the first three evicted housemates, Niyi, Yerins and Beatrice, with four new housemates JMK, Kayvee, Queen and Michael.
Of course, it’s Biggie’s house, so his rules!
- Bringing back the HoH veto power
As in previous seasons, the Head of House for the week had the veto power to save a nominated housemate and replace them with another housemate who wasn’t nominated for possible eviction. But last season, Biggie retired this rule. To viewers’ surprise however, Big Brother brought back the veto power this season, and this made the housemates get on their A-game for every Head of House challenge
- Maria’s eviction prank
When Maria won the Head of House in the fourth week, Big brother told her to convince the housemates by any means necessary that she would be the one to evict the housemates for the week. Maria surprised the viewers as she took the prank to a whole new level, when she came out of the diary room crying and told them that the least housemate to impress her goes home. The housemates successfully believed and it was interesting to see how orderly they could be. Maria definitely deserves some accolades for this!
- Double HoH
For the first time in BBNaija, Big Brother created a dual Head of House reign. In week six, the fastest male and female to finish the Head of House challenge emerged as winners and became double HoH to share in the benefits of the Head of House position, leaving all other housemates up for eviction.
This was definitely a twist no one saw coming!
- Kingsize Eviction
After the double HoH reign that left all 17 housemates up for eviction, Biggie’s right-hand man Ebuka during Sunday live eviction show, took out four housemates, Peace, Michael, Tega, and Boma leaving 14 housemates in the competition. This was the highest number of single evictions recorded in one night this season!
- Second runner up veto power instead of HoH
In week 7, Biggie announced to the housemates that the housemate who comes second during the Head of House challenge would be the veto power holder, thereby depriving the Head of House of the power to save and replace. He also ensured the nominations were done first so housemates put up for possible eviction could save themselves.
Isn’t that just great!
- The Saga and Liquorose prank
Recently, Big Brother told Liquorose and Saga topick a fight with their love interests Emmanuel and Nini respectively and get a reward of 250 abeg naira and 200 BB token. Liquorose pulled this off and got the reward and a romantic dinner date but Saga went ahead to give Nini the details of the prank which cost him the reward.
- Mimicking fellow housemates
To make the housemates see themselves through eachothers eyes, Big brother asked them to pick a fellow housemate to mimic for a whole day. This was hilarious as most of their acts were on point. This will definitely go down as one of the most epic twists this season.
