The appointment of Danjuma Wurim Dadu as the managing director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) in June 2013 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration was perceived by movie industry experts as a wrong move.
In December 2015, respected Nigerian journalist, Victor Akande in a piece wrote, ‘the choice of Danjuma Dadu, a building engineer, as head of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) is one of the greatest errors of the erstwhile administration. Without fear of contradiction, Dadu’s tenure as managing director of the apex film agency is witnessing the worst retrogression in the history of the Corporation evidences abound’.
With more criticisms of Dadu’s tenure flowing in, staff of the Nigerian Film Corporation NFC in Jos, Plateau State yesterday June 19, 2016 staged a peaceful protest demanding his resignation.
The protest also continued on social media with comments such as these;
Okeagu Ikechukwu Henry Now I wonder why the students did not join in this struggle. If only they knew the power they had to make their filmic education grow. But I’m glad the staff has come out to fight for what is right. These things should stop in even other sectors. He killed the school and wants to kill the staff with his polices……? Worth a fight.Manasseh Whyte The NFC has a lot of innovation to put in place in order to add immensely to the development of the film industry. The only good thing about the NFC as it is now is the NFI; even that as I heard, is been affected seriously. The NFC needs to take seriously the reasons for its establishment.Abarshi Besin He should leave, since he got dare alot of tins has gone wrong in NFI. He must leaveOtuogbodor Okeibunor Andrew They are just realizing the absence of vision of the corporation. I laugh!Friday Filmboy Nwagwu When we protested lack of equipment and facilities in NFI and our admission was threatened what did we get as response from staffs?
