Rap icon Jay Z turned 47 yesterday and had a quiet party to mark the day.
Known for being fiercely private, the party was kept under wraps – literally, with tarpaulin covering the entrance of the venue.
His wife Beyonce, was there with her mother Tina Knowles and former Destiny’s Child co-member Kelly Rowland, who attended with her husband Tim Witherspoon.
The only conspicuous absentee was Beyonce’s younger sister Solange.
You will recall the infamous elevator incident in 2014 when she got into an argument with Jay Z and was seen in a security camera hitting him repeatedly.
Although they’ve patched things up since then, it is rather telling that she was not at this party for her brother-in-law.
