The second edition of Taruwa Festival will kick off with the debut of an exciting stage play this week.
After staging Bobo Omotayo’s ‘London Life London Living’ last year, the organisers have announced this year’s play, ‘The Engagement,’ written by the award-winning Author and playwright, Sefi Atta.
The stage play is scheduled for two shows (4: 30PM and 6:30PM) at the festival, which kicks off on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is directed by Kenneth Uphopho of ‘Harvest of Soyinka’ plays ‘Trials of Brother Jero’ and ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’.
TARUWA (a Hausa word meaning ‘gathering’) is an event created by Gbagyichild Entertainment. It is a gathering of artistic and intellectual minds, and creates a platform for artistes to express themselves in a comfortable and intellectual setting. On a typical TARUWA evening, there are performances by poets, vocalists, instrumentalists, comedians and spoken word artistes.
