- The late Suzy Q resting in her coffin
The mood around the once bustling Club SQ in Victoria Island, SQ was sombre today, as the remains of its deceased operator, Susan Yusuf, was finally prepared on its journey to eternity this morning, Friday, March 23, 2012.
Friends and family of the late Susan, who was brutally stabbed to death on Friday, February 10, 2012 in her 1004 apartment, gathered for a wake keep in her memory yesterday, returning today for her burial.
It was a teary moment for friends and family as the body was finally laid to rest at the Victoria Garden Cemetery, Lekki-Epe expressway.
The presiding minister, Reverend Fregene, exhorted all to come to grips with the inevitability of death and the need to live worthy and exemplary lives while on earth. The body was finally lowered to earth at around 1pm.
A close relative of the late Susan Yusuf, who was beside herself with grief, prayed for the repose of her soul.
‘I am deeply sad, I can’t really say much now, so Susan is gone?’ She wondered.
Eddy Yusuf, elder brother to the deceased, expressed sadness at circumstances that led to her death, while praying for strength to bear the loss.
‘Well, it’s God. It’s a really terrible thing that happened. I mean, for someone to lose their life in that manner? … Very sad’.
Friends and close relations of the late Susan paid tributes to her, among them, Titi, a close friend and business associate.
Susan Aisiku Yusuf was the manager of the popular SQ lounge. Before her passing, she had entered a short-lived partnership with Mo’Hits singer D’Prince.
She was murdered in gruesome circumstances by an alleged lover, who himself died shortly after jumping off the balcony of the multi-storeyed building.
As yet, police are still trying to unravel the reasons behind the double homicide.
