When the reality show The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos) is mentioned, what comes to mind are glamorous women, glittering wardrobes, shifting dynamics and stirring drama. The show has become a spectacle through which fans get their entertainment fix and are let in on the lives of their on-screen darlings.
RHOLagos is the 16th international version of the popular reality show format distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Formats, part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, and the third to be adapted in Africa.
The show, which premiered exclusively on Showmax on April 8, 2022, comes to Africa Magic on DStv on October 3, 2022.
Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels of MultiChoice Nigeria, while announcing the premiere of the show on DStv, at the MultiChoice media showcase in Lagos on Thursday, September 15, 2022, said “Real Housewives of Lagos is coming to Africa Magic in October. October 3 on Showcase and October 4 on Urban.”
Thus, RHOLagos premieres on two channels on different dates. It will first premiere on October 3 on Africa Magic Showcase, DStv channel 151. After that, it will debut on Africa Magic Urban, DStv channel 153, on October 4, 2022.
Taking fans through a journey of glitz, glam and fashion, into the personal and professional lives of six of the most glamorous women in Lagos, the reality show features six sophisticated Lagos-based women – Iyabo Ojo, Carolyna Hutchings, Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani, Laura Ikeji Kanu, and Mariam Adeyemi Timmer.
From Iyabo Ojo to Toyin Lawani, Carolyna Hutchings, Chioma ‘Good Hair’, Laura Ikeji and Mariam Trimmer, the cast really brought the drama to the screen in the first season and gave fans more than they expected with their drama, clash of ego and class battle.
When it premiered on Showmax on April 8, 2022, RHOLagos broke the record for the most first-day views on Showmax Nigeria and also sat at the No.1 spot on Nigeria and South Africa’s Twitter trend list. It also featured on the United Kingdom trend list.
