Ogungbe’s passing was confirmed by his son, Segun Ogungbe who spoke to newsmen shortly after the actor passed away.
Until his death, the Abeokuta based actor owned Akin Ogungbe Theatre Troupe which has produced dramatists like Jimoh Aliu and other acts.
He was also popular for his role in the play, Ireke Onibudo.
Ogungbe and other veterans like Moses Olaiya, Oyin Adejobi and others are credited to have laid the foundation for the present day movie indsutry, especially the Yoruba sector
