As days turn into weeks, and weeks into months, Nigerian Idol talent show gradually unravels unprecedented excitement and entertainment to its many viewers all across the country.
Last week, the judges made public their displeasure on how viewers have voted; they felt that a number of talents were disregarded by the audience.
So, it didn’t come as a surprise to many last Sunday when co host Misi announced that the Judges had decided to exercise their power and bring back some of the previously evicted contestants to face a second chance.
And true to her words on Thursday, January 28, 2011 six contestants; Immaculate, AJ, Tonii, Chito, Amadi and Rachael faced the judges for a second chance to be on the show. There were no performance, no renditions. The judges deliberated for a few minutes and selected the contestants they would love to bring back into the competition.
‘It’s a tough decision to make; all six contestants are talented, so sad we have to pick one each’ said Jeffery Daniel before selecting AJ whose eviction two weeks back generated a lot of news interest.
Meanwhile, while Jeffery brought back AJ, Audu Maikori on the other hand did the same for Tonii while Yinka Daviesgave her vote for Chito.
The wild card which sees three evicted contestants return to join the 10 finalists is part of the Idols format which states that six or even more contestants may be brought back to the competition.
The stiff competition this year began with 10,000 contestants slugging it out for a grand prize of 7.5 Million Naira and a record deal with Sony BMG.
