The most anticipated reality TV singing competition, Nigerian Idol, is back for a seventh season!
Following the success of the sixth season, which saw Kingdom Kroisode emerge as the winner, Nigerian Idol is back for its seventh season. MultiChoice on Tuesday, 18 January, announced Simi, D’banj and Obi Asika as the judges for the season at a media launch, which was held at the company’s multipurpose studios in Lagos.
Proceeding with plans for Nigerian Idol season 7, MultiChoice announced the return of award-winning TV personality IK Osakioduwa as the host of the season.
Speaking on judges selected for this season, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr Busola Tejumola, said: “We are excited to bring back the show that spotlights young talents across Nigeria. With the judges this season, I can boldly say that they’re in the right hands that’ll help nurture them in their growing walk in the industry”.
Ik who is returning as this season’s host also shared his excitement to be back at the reality show. He said, “I’m so excited to be back on the show because coming back for a new season means that I did well the previous season. I’ll be bringing a lot to the table this season and I can’t wait for the viewers to see what we have in store.”
The three-month-long music reality show will follow the lives of talented and aspiring musicians who undergo rigorous training to become the next music superstar. The winner will walk away with 100 Million Naira worth of prizes. This is the highest reward for any singing competition in Nigeria.
