Exactly two years ago, the world was puzzling over what to make of the new album from Kanye West, a work that after multiple title changes settled on The Life of Pablo.
The 19 track album is the rappers seventh solo album and undoubtedly his most divisive effort of all time offering a sprawling perception on personal, societal and multi-cultural issues in America.
The Life Of Pablo was released exclusively on Tidal and two months after its release it skyrocketed to the number one spot of the Billboard Top 200 chart based on stream-only consumptions.
Recording sessions for the album reportedly took place from 2013 to 2016, in Italy, Mexico, Canada and the United States but after it’s release, West continued to make changes to the music, describing it as “a living, breathing, changing, creative expression”.
A largely updated version of the album, which included alternate mixes and other changes, was later made available on other streaming services and for digital purchase on his website on April 1, 2016. The album was supported by the singles “Famous” ft Rihanna, “Father Stretch My Hands”, and “Fade”.
Kanye is reportedly working on his eight solo studio album and fans are in high hopes that he’ll deliver yet another masterpiece.
