Losing one’s spouse is one of the most terrifying situations that a person could go through in life, either as a man or as a woman.
When the unfortunate death of popular gospel singer, Irikefe Dan Momoh occurred, many would have challenged God if given the chance as a result of their love for the woman who made praising God one of the easiest and most enjoyable things to do.
Her husband, Teddy Don Momoh, himself a popular figure by virtue of his job as a presenter on radio, would have been shattered. But it must be said that he carried the burden of his loss, heavy by the highest of standards, with incredible grace.
Apart from continuing with his presentation of Morning Bliss, an early morning live programme he presents on Raypower 100.5 FM every Sunday, he was left to console and encourage those weeping for his late wife in the following days and weeks.
On August 10, however, Teddy Esosa Dan Momoh made his first public outing. The event was Black and White Gig, an annual classy event hosted by Encomium Magazine and the OAP broke his silence, focusing on the death of his wife.
While initially saying he had only come to have fun and ease some of the tension
That had apparently built following Kefee’s sudden illness while on a long flight to the United States and the eventual, even more shocking death, Teddy spoke of his wife in flowery terms.
‘I can’t say I am going to miss her because there are uncountable things to miss. She was a complete, Godly, highly intelligent and strong woman. All these I will miss and also not having her by my side forever. She was a woman that knew what to say to me to keep me fired up. The last memories we had together were shared between Nigeria and America. We shot our first video together here in Nigeria as certified video producers and directors. It was fun to see her contribute highly and creatively in the camera positioning and I told her ‘You are what the industry has been waiting for’. This happened a day before she travelled back to America,’ he said.
Focusing on projects that the very lively Kefee had lined up before the untimely death snatched her away, Don Momoh disclosed that the late gospel act was working on what he called a beautiful album.
Shedding more light on it, he described the project as ‘the best of both worlds compilation double CD album.’
But before one would consign the project to the basket of unrealised dreams, the regarded OAP told whoever is ready to listen that: ‘I would be putting finishing touches to the album. She had two projects for her foundation that she was working on before she travelled.’
The Fresh Prince, as he also calls himself on radio, said before dwelling on several other things contending for attention, he is set to make Kefee’s album project the priority.
‘But by God’s Grace, the team would bring it to realization. Also watch out for her video compilation that our team would be dropping soon. She left her legacy and I am asking her fans to support her even now as we drop songs on iTunes and CD for public consumption,’ he said.
