- Toke (L)says Linda (R) is just a ‘gossiper’
Popular radio and TV presenter Toke Makinwa has aired her thoughts about popular blogger and former model Linda Ikeji stating she ‘doesn’t think Linda Ikeji is a role model’.
Little known Makinwa who works as a radio presenter on popular urban radio station Rhythm 93.7 dropped her comments on air while she was co-anchoring ‘The Morning Drive’ recently.
‘I don’t think Linda Ikeji is a role model. She’s a gossiper, She sells gossip’, Makinwa said on the show and even appealed to her listeners not to take the likes of popular US blogger Perez Hilton and Miss Ikeji seriously.
Ikeji whose romance with Dan Foster ended controversially, published a fashion magazine before settling down fully with her blog.
And in just a few years, she’s moved from being media subject to media player; growing her platform to become one of Nigeria’s leading blogs; using mostly third party contents, reader engagement and shocking personal revelations. But, just like Perez and TMZ, she’s under regular fire from readers and celebs who think she often crosses the line.
But the successful blogger is not all about gossip. Passionate about human interest stories, she has often dedicated her blog to supporting worthy causes, a recent example being the case of Okeoghene Ighiwotho – the diabetic patient who lost his toes and was bedridden for six years.
Makinwa, however, is not impressed. ‘I’m appealing to the younger generation not to take Perez Hilton or Linda Ikeji as a role model’, she added.
Interestingly, Makinwa has been featured on Ikeji’s blog several times, in video interviews for Flytime productions and on publicity posts for 3LiveChicks.

Toke Makinwa is just beefing Linda. Her comments about Linda is in bad taste, and obviously laced with jealousy. You cannot run her down. Besides, who knows Tope Makinwa? U only glorified her by saying she is popular. Get a life Tope, u low life!!
Toke said the right words but is she forgetting that someone too in the blogosphere is trying to be like linda ikeji, Ladun liadi. And ladun too has not been fair to toke makinwa too. Too bad. Linda is a bad influencer she looks good wen u see her with that smile but she has no mercy when she wants to talk about you on her blog. I’m with you toke.
But it’s the truth. Linda loves looking for trouble and enjoys gossip..it might seem entertaining to her but it destroys lives, I don’t think she cares anyway..but I guess that’s what rocks her boat and maybe following her dream by reporting news makes it cool for kids to emulate,but as for the gossip& sarcastic, encouraging trouble making ways then she’s no role-model cos she enjoys and accepts hateful and spiteful comments on her blog from jobless haters.

I read with dismay the seemingly proficient prophylactic deflection tactics of Toke Makinwa on the personality of revered Linda Ikeji. I observed that she practised the craft of crying “Foul” even before the stone that was first cast by her reverberations and turning herself to a target,
When I looked to find her in the chronicle of reputable reference, all that cropped up was odium and rude shock of her vanities, I was compelled by this short response to compare her to Linda, I found no place for comparison for she was of Yesterday and like children of modern days have no regards for the elder thus her vituperation of ignorance
Let me tell you about Linda that you do not know,
The Name has become a household name NOT only in Nigeria, but in Nations of your imaginations, the fact that she started out as a beauty queen is a confirmation of her relevance appreciated when beauty was Natural without the plastic realities, and if you are ever privileged to stand side by side with her, she maintained a rare consistency of her elegance as simple as International celebrity enough to dumbfound critics
Linda Ikeji as a Blogger rules practically in the Google world in Africa and beyond, there is not a search on any matter where Linda is not represented, if there is a way to do gossip, this indeed is the best way to do gossip, You must understand that the fact that the caption on her Blog carries a title “News, Events, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Fashion, Beauty, Inspiration and yes… Gossip! *Wink*” the mention of gossip which was used as derogatory on the personality of Linda in your interview is a tool for little mind who ignores the other information. Who is toke, some unwashed run girl talking about Miss Linda Ikeji. Here in america, Linda is well known and respected as a hard working blogger and a shining start in the nigerian blogsphere. She is a role model becuase she has been able to do something positive with her life without compromising her dignity.
