Since 1958, The Billboard Hot 100 has been the music industry standard record chart in the United States for hit singles and till date no Nigerian act has ever made it to the list.
Well that seems to have changed now.
On April 5, 2016, Canadian rapper, Drake released two songs , ‘Pop style’ featuring Kanye West and Jay Z, and ‘One dance’ featuring Kyla and Nigerian pop star, Wizkid.
Both songs released by Drake claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the real-time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 as it became the most shared and discussed songs on the social media network after their release.
With this, Wizkid becomes the first Nigerian artist to emerge on Billboard’s Twitter Last 24 hours chart and can only hope that the song makes it to the coveted Billboard Top 100 chart when the next ranking is released.
