
Star actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was in the US, when she turned 35 on February 7, 2013. However, a surprise birthday party was held for her last Monday (February 25, 2013), on her arrival in Nigeria.
The party was organised by her husband, Captain Matthew-Ekeinde, and it took place at Queen Bee Suites in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to Nigerian movie website Nollywood Mindspace, the actress arrived in Lagos after a stressful flight from Atlanta. One hour after boarding a Delta Airlines plane in Atlanta for her journey to Lagos, she had to disembark along with all other passengers, after the plane was discovered to have a fault. She finally departed Atlanta for Lagos on another plane two hours later (around midnight).
She arrived at Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos after an 11-hour flight. She waited at the conveyor belt for an hour, only to discover that her luggage did not arrive. Her husband, who had come to pick her up, suggested that they should get a bite to eat and wait for the traffic to ease. He also said they should take the opportunity to see their pastor, Tessy Anyanwu of Jesus My Shepherd Church.
On arriving at Queen Bees Hotel, to have dinner, the actress walked into a surprise party, with her pastor, and many of her friends and colleagues present. The surprised actress could not hold back her emotion at the sight many friends and colleagues, who had gathered to celebrate her.
Fashion designer, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, was on hand to provide the actress with a halter-neck dress, with an Ankara bodice, for her to change into.
Her friend, Ronke Apampa was also on hand to lend the actress a pair of earrings to complete her ensemble.
Some of those at the party were Genevieve Nnaji, Chidi Mokeme, Monalisa Chinda, Bimbo Akintola, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Ayo Makun (AY The Comedian), Banky W and Roy Murray-Bruce.
