Reality TV star and musician Soma revealed that his mother, Stella Anyama, played a significant role in inspiring him to pursue a career in music.
He revealed this during an exclusive interview with Netng on Thursday, September 28, 2023, while he discussed her 1992 album ‘Omalicha (Beautiful Lady),’ and how it influenced his music. Stella Yama is a renowned Igbo soul music artiste, one of the first Nigerians signed to Sony Music.
“She used to travel to perform then, and I used to follow her and be her little backup singer. Those were the days my love for music started,” he told Netng.
Although he was encouraged to explore other career options apart from music, his mother’s routines and constant rehearsals instilled in him the determination to venture into the music industry.
“She had a band. They used to come to rehearse in our house, and I used to take lessons as well. I was just introduced to that life very early. I guess that influenced me to just want to do music all my life. I had to go to school because I had to go to school,” he said.
Speaking of his time in the Big Brother house and the bonds he formed, He disclosed that although he felt slighted by Adekunle’s decision to nominate him for eviction, he understood why.
“I totally understand him nominating him, even if on my side I would never have nominated him because I felt like we’ve gotten to a level of friendship. Still, I’m not holding it against him. It’s just something I’m going to laugh off because I totally get it. The game is the game.”
Since he entered the house in August 2023, the fast-rising music artiste has showcased his musical prowess and even released a song, ‘DM,’ while he was in the house. He disclosed during the interview that fans should expect more music from him.
