Two important yet soul-wrenching episodes have been released back to back on Showmax’s Crime & Justice Lagos, and it simply implies the fact that if law enforcement officers do not do their job, no one is safe.

The 23-year-old UNILAG graduate with a promising career in tech, the ‘I just got back’ (IJGB) who came to spend the holidays in Nigeria, and the young child hustling on the streets to make ends meet, none of them are safe.
Here are some of the takeaways from episodes 4 and 5 of Crime & Justice Lagos.
Never Argue With The Police Force
Episode 4 of Crime & Justice Lagos centred on police brutality and told the story of three young men and a lady who were killed by the police because they were wrongly accused of committing a crime they knew nothing about.
In a quest to defend themselves from assault, they were shot brutally, which brings us to the heading, never argue with a police officer. When you see them cooperate and live to tell your story another day.
Speak Up Against Brutality
The protest in episode 4 might not have solved the case, but it helped raise awareness of the brutality the victims faced and eventually led to justice. At every point, using your voice and speaking against brutality is important.
Help Children In Need
Episode five introduced us to organ harvesters who under the guise of taking care of homeless children get them to donate their kidneys. Helping children in need not only save children from possible predators but also contributes to the development of our society.
Nigeria Is Not Safe, Be Careful
If you are not trying to be mellow enough not to seem like a threat to a police officer pulling you over, you’re trying to keep yourself safe from street urchins. We are in sensitive times, and as much as there are officers like SP Danladi and Kelechi in the force, there are also enforcement officers like DSP Janga’s men, who would murder people to cover their excesses.
Not Everyone Gets Justice
Watching Crime & Justice Lagos series instils the reality that not everyone who has committed a crime gets punished, which is a sad fact. Big Mummy exploited children for years under the guise of taking care of them only for her to not be found guilty of anything in court? It’s no surprise SP Danladi was devastated by the judgement.
