Outspoken, Gorgeous, business-minded, and unafraid to share her opinions, ex-BBNaija star Anita Natacha ‘Tacha’ Akide has a presence that attracts many to her.
Starting off as a small-time Instagram influencer, Tacha consciously grew her influence with properly planned steps. It started with racy pictures on the internet, an Instagram shop, and a determination to make it into the Big Brother Naija house. Videos from when she first went for the auditions trended on social media, and many fans of the show already knew who she was before her time in the house. She is now one of the most followed and influential Big Brother Naija housemates on social media with a fan base that rivals many.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, she calls herself ‘Port Harcourt’s First Daughter’. At only 23 years old, Tacha had developed an entire fan base and started a thriving online business. She became insta-famous, especially after sharing on social media that she drew Davido’s symbol on her chest to express her love for the artiste. But being insta-famous was only a means to an end. Tacha’s goal was to build an empire that will set her apart from others.
To move her business forward, she ventured into the Big Brother Naija house. During her stay in the house, she led voting charts and was the source of countless headlines and controversy. She was later disqualified from the show after 89 days because she fought another housemate. Several fans of the show have described her eviction as one of the most painful in BBNaija history. Tacha had been leading the voting charts for weeks, but the week she recorded her highest numbers the week Big Brother disqualified her, getting a whopping 41.66% out of five housemates nominated. But that moment set the tone for the rest of Tacha’s career.
The end of her journey on the show gave birth to the beginning of a more prosperous journey. Her days in the house helped her grow a loyal fan base known as ‘The Titans’. Spurred by her fandom, Tacha has improved her branding, developed her business, and sold out multiple product lines. She is currently the brand ambassador for many companies, including Get Fit, My Paddi App, Speedy Weight Loss, OXFORDBuildBay, and many more.
Never one to shy away from sharing her opinions, in 2020, Natacha showed her patriotic side fans never got to see while she was on the Big Brother Naija show. She took on an active role in the conversations surrounding the October 2020 End SARS protests.
Natacha walked the protests, travelled to different states to lend her voice, campaigned endlessly on social media, called for youth representation and condemned the government. She also put out daily words of support to fans demonstrating on the street while advising them to get their PVCs in preparation for the 2023 elections. Her unwavering support to the movement and other social issues earned her the admiration of more fans, some of whom never liked her in the house.
After the horrible happenings at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020, Tacha who had been at the forefront of the campaign, protesting in different states took to social media to send an encouraging note to the Nigerian youths. In it, she asked that they stay hopeful and prepare to fight again later by getting their PVCs.
“The incidents of the last few days have left several youths of Nigeria, shattered and hurt. It only shows the extent to which we still have to go concerning insecurity and good governance. Nevertheless, I would like to praise the youths who stood up for this great cause. The unity and bravery we all invested during this period are exactly what we need in our dear country, Nigeria. However, I am so sad and almost depressed, young HEROES lost their lives for this movement”. She continued, “However it is not finished, the struggle doesn’t end, we would continue to advocate for a BETTER Nigeria. Guys, go get your PVC’s and fulfil your RIGHTS as a Citizen to vote when the time comes. We PIN!”
Tacha has maintained her controversial personality, never shying away from saying what she thinks without fear of judgement. She continues to stay at the forefront of conversations on social media and across the web. Tacha won the NET Honours Class of 2020 Most ‘Popular BBNaija Star’. This year, she’s taking home the Class of 2021’s award for ‘Most Popular Person’ after dominating conversations across Netng, 234 Star, and Neusroom’s website and social media spaces.
Congratulations to this hardworking woman!
