From Aston Martins to Porsches to Bentleys, the luxury cars keep arriving in droves for the flamboyant and famous Nigerian celebrities who definitely know how to flaunt their acquisitions unapologetically.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has witnessed a revolution of immense proportions over the past decade, and many celebrities now possess the financial capacity to lounge exorbitantly and attempt to compete with football stars, as opposed to the days when they had to hustle hard for shows and sometimes plead for their show-fees afterwards.

At the moment, all that seems a distant history considering the humongous success many of these acts have begun to achieve, a feat that automatically translates to material and financial wealth. Once upon a time, Nigerian musicians/actors/comedians often patronised cabs/taxis, while some even hopped on Okadas (commercial motorcycles) whenever it was necessary.

Thanks to the high show fees (local and international), mouth-watering brand endorsement deals, caller tunes sales and several other perks that come with the territory, our celebrities can now afford to invest in some of the most luxurious and expensive automobiles on earth.

Indeed, we’ve come a long way!

Ever since, every celebrity who has attained some semblance of success in acting, music or comedy, whether relative or monumental, tends to indulge in buying a big-car.

As to whether the acquisitions are made from their personal earnings or they are merely label/management inspired branding tools, one can’t really tell. Many are of the opinion that most of these entertainers lack the financial wherewithal to personally purchase the exotic cars. In some quarters, it is believed that some rich benefactors, fans and admirers who choose to remain anonymous are sometimes responsible for the cars which the celebs cruise around town in.

It seems that nowadays, the celebrity status isn’t complete without one or two top-grade automobiles to go with it.
