Former Backstreet boy Nicki Carter did not attend his sister Leslie Carter’s funeral which took place on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
Nick rather attended a concert in Philadelphia and hosted a party at an Atlantic City resort on the same night when the funeral for his little sister took place.
‘I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic. I love my family. I want to thank everyone for all of their compassion and support that I have received during this most difficult time. There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive and focused’, the 32-year-old told The Insider.
Leslie passed away on January 31, 2012. Reports say she overdosed off prescription drugs meant to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Leslie and Nicki’s stepmother Ginger Carter told the police that the 25-year-old Leslie had a “long history of mental illness” and that she had appeared depressed the morning that she died.
The singer’s ‘Like Wow’ single was on the soundtrack for ‘Shrek’ in 2001 and in 2006, she appeared in all eight episodes of the reality show ‘House of Carters’.
