Five years after signing a deal with Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D Music, there is still confusion over D’banj‘s status as a member of the thriving record label.
Kanye on Wednesday, announced Tyga and Desiigner as new additions to the label’s roster and upon revealing the currently active members, D’banj’s name is still included.

The Kokomaster was thought to have parted ways with G.O.O.D Music few years after falling out with his long-time partner Don Jazzy, with his more recent releases solely carrying his new record label, D’banj Records.
Since putting pen to paper on the deal in 2011, D’banj is yet to release a body of work under the Kanye-owned label. The closest he has got to that is featuring on the label’s compilation album, Cruel Summer in 2012, while Kanye had a cameo in D’banj’s monster hit, ‘Oliver Twist’.

Though he had previously maintained he is still a part of G.O.O.D Music, there is nowhere on any of D’banj’s bios where he makes reference to still being affiliated with the label which was founded in 2004.

G.O.O.D Music is preparing for another compilation album, Cruel Winter which has been tentatively slated for a 2017 release and so far, nothing hints towards a D’banj involvement in the project.
Whether the singer is considered important enough as a core member of the label remains to be seen.
