Another week, another recap for you! It’s been 5 weeks since the 2024 edition of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) show started and it has been filled with so much drama.
The housemates are at the halfway mark now and let me tell you, this past week was one they were not expecting. Here is a recap of everything that happened in Week 5 of the ‘No Loose Guard‘ season
Sunday (After Eviction): Life after ZINWE
The drama intensified after Zinwe’s eviction and Ebuka’s table-shaking antics where he dubbed the housemates “ultimate love” and put the spotlight on the various relationships.
Aces and Nelita, Ozee’s love triangle, DoubleKay’s jealousy, and the Wanni and Shaun situation were all rattled by Ebuka.
Monday: Shatoria becomes HOH for the first time
Shaun and Wanni started the day on no speaking terms and Handi had to step in as Wanni’s spokesperson. All this happened because Shaun confronted Wanni, calling her high and violent during a fallout with her twin.
Victoria was also very angry after Onyeka accused her of wearing short skirts to catch Ozee’s attention which she insists isn’t happening/ Ozee and Onyeka also clashed over the claims, with the male twin later warning the other guys to stay away from her, saying she’s all about drawing attention by dancing solo.
The Radicals duo called Onyeka out, saying she’s more involved in gossip around the house than she admits to with Fairme David advising her to steer clear of other people’s drama if she doesn’t want to be misunderstood.
Later, all the housemates battled it out in the Head of House challenge which saw the Shatoria pair emerge as the new Heads of House.
Afterwards, the housemates got to nominate each other for eviction and at the end, Aces, DoubleKay, Radicals, and Wanni x Handi were announced as the housemates who were up for eviction this week.

Tuesday: Wager preparation
The housemates staked 80% of their earnings on the week’s wager and focused on bringing their A-game under the leadership of Shatoria, the new Heads of House as they brainstormed ideas.
The day, however, started with some tension when Ozee tried to strike up a conversation with Victoria, only to be told by her to avoid her.
The day’s drama continued as Anita turned to Topher for food, and he indeed came through, cooking a delicious meal of noodles. Kassia and Victoria, while talking, agreed that Anita and Topher’s ‘Anipher’ is the sweetest ship in the house.
Ocee and Topher couldn’t help but poke fun at Chizoba and Ben’s so-called ship, dubbing it “ChizoBen” or “Benzo.” The guys joked that their relationship is all gist and no emotional connection, with Chizoba firing back that Topher’s constant kissing has made him lose weight.
Recall that after the last Saturday night party, Sooj had given Onyeka’s buttocks a loud spanking which was brought up by Ebuka to which Sooj blamed on intoxication. Well, the incident between the two caused Onyeka to keep her distance from him and in a conversation, she explained why but he told her not to pull away completely.
Wednesday was full of relationship drama
The day saw Nelly and Sooj bickering about how she was the only one feeding the relationship to which Sooj insisted he was giving as much as her.
He also had a conversation in the garden with his friend and partner Topher where he revealed how Nelly asked him about his blood group and that made him wonder if they were at that stage because of how serious the question was.
The drama continued with the Mbadiwe Twins and Kellyrae having a bonding session in the gym. Ozee kept on talking about Onyeka and her antics, saying although he is not sure whether Victoria likes him or not, Onyeka took it upon herself to say things on his behalf were misleading.
He also mentioned how Onyeka spoke to Victoria about his girlfriend outside the house, calling out her behaviour and insinuating that she just might be enjoying the chaos she’s creating.
Michky and Wanna also got into a tiff over the toilet usage when she sprayed the toilet one time after he used it and that, he said, was his reason for nominating the twins for eviction this week.
Thursday: Friendships reinforced and pool party
The day saw the pairs strategizing and choosing alliances. Aces and the Mbadiwe Twins for one had gotten closer and bonded over several issues, Ozee spoke to Sooj and Topher, on separate occasions, about a rumoured love triangle that he allegedly started involving Onyeka and Victoria which he insisted was not true.
The Aces also got to speak honestly with the twins about Topher’s issues with Anita.
Wanni X Handi got some advice from their bestie, Shaun about treading carefully, pointing out that friendships in the house can be deceptive, especially among women.
Friday: The loss of a wager and the end of a relationship
The day started with Ozee still on the Onyeka matter which he discussed at length in a conversation with Tjay, the bone of contention being her ‘shenanigans and his supposed triangle with her and Victoria.
It also seemed that the celebrations of the X7 Premium Skin Care task victory of their contenders, the Carats (Onyeka being a member), had him in his feelings and he told Chizoba and his brother Ocee that the winners were rubbing it in that his team, Team Gold had lost.
Later that night, the housemates entered the arena for their wager presentation, filled with confidence and certain that they’d ace the challenge. They showcased their latest innovations. Yet in a surprising twist, Biggie denied them a win and they faced another crushing wager loss.
Head of House Shaun tried to keep spirits high as he reminded everyone that they tried their best and urged them to brush off the defeat and focus on enjoying the weekend. Kassia, Nelita and Onyeka also rallied around HoH Victoria, reassuring her not to take the loss personally.
After 5 days of tension, Onyeka and Ozee finally had a sit-down where he expressed his frustration about the wrong narrative being spread about his relationships. He told her that he believes he can be friends with people without these misconceptions arising.
She went on to reassure him that she never intended to hurt his relationship. Ozee pointed out that he never asked her to be his mouthpiece and felt that her actions fueled the love triangle narrative. Despite their recent lack of communication, Ozee mentioned that he still checked in with her through his brother, Ocee.
Nelly had a talk with her friend, Anita about Topher’s growing concerns over her closeness with Ben, with her boo being so worried that he even sent Sooj to ask her about the nature of their friendship. Anita, however, played it cool, explaining that she’s already addressed the issue with him and has since limited her interactions with Ben.
Topher summoned up courage and finally told Anita his real age and apologised for not speaking about it on time because he did not want to ruin what they had. Anita responded that it was unfair of him and eventually took her leave from the conversation in the garden. They were both later seen crying over what was presumably the end of their relationship.
Saturday: More drama, good gbedu
The drama in the house with the tension between Topher and Anita was palpable, as the two were still not on speaking terms after their breakup. She completely ignored him despite being nearby while he, on the other hand, sought comfort in a chat with Fairme David, hoping for redemption.
Things got heated when what started as a casual conversation about boxing between Michky and Ocee quickly turned into a low-key argument as the two couldn’t seem to see eye to eye on the subject.
Later in the day when they crossed paths again in the kitchen, Ocee felt insulted when Michky questioned his “Nigerianness” by asking the meaning of Akamu. He didn’t take too kindly to the question and felt that he was challenging his cultural authenticity.
After the Smirnoff task that night, the housemates were met with something they never expected. Two ninjas strolled in, flipped on a flat-screen TV, and set a timer with less than 24 hours left on it. The ticking sound caused a lot of anxiety in the house as they all speculated on what it could mean for them.
They then got ready for their cultural-themed party where they had loads of fun with the highlight being Anita and Topher making up with a passionate kiss.
Sunday: Another eviction and another classic BBNaija bombshell
After the Saturday night party, some of the housemates let loose and started spilling some serious tea. Ozee casually dropped a hint that someone’s got their eyes on him and – not in a good way.
Anita, who was still in her feelings, wondered why Topher didn’t seem nervous about not telling her sooner. Shaun and Fairme jumped to his defence and pleaded with her, with the latter claiming they were his favourite couple and thanking them for bringing peace back to the house.
The Live Show which took place hours later saw Ebuka’s table-shaking skills come to life again which led to the revelation of scandals, much to the dismay of the housemates.
Ebuka opened with a question to Victoria about their choice of HoH lounge guests which she confirmed that she spoke with Shaun before they chose Wanni x Handi. He also dove into Ozee and Onyeka’s issue as he revealed all the complaints the male twin had made while they were not speaking.
He also touched on Ben wanting a baddie as a girlfriend which he said he doesn’t think Chizoba is. Wanni’s secret comments on Nelly’s body and Onyeka’s personality were also brought to light and DoubleKay’s cover was blown by Ebuka, who asked them about their secret kisses around the house.
Afterwards, the Radicals pair Fairme and Michky were evicted from the show.
Still processing what had happened, the housemates were met with more twists which none of them saw coming. Biggie announced that the housemates would no longer continue as pairs but as individuals. The game was reset and had officially become a solo competition, with only one housemate emerging as the winner of this season.
The next few weeks are going to be interesting to watch as new alliances will be formed. We wait to see how it will all unfold.
