Olamide has shared his insights on the delicate balance between his passion for music and his sharp business acumen, revealing a side of himself many fans rarely get to see.
In an interview with media personality, Korty. Olamide disclosed that he enjoys songwriting more than performing: “a lot,” he said, emphasising that his love for writing music goes far beyond.
However, what really stood out was his thoughtful perspective on being both a creative and a business-minded individual. “I would always pick being business-minded and creative over just being creative and not business-minded,” Olamide explained, highlighting how crucial it is for artists to understand the business side of the industry.
When it comes to which role comes more naturally, making music or being an executive, Olamide didn’t hesitate. “It’s way easier for me to be an exec,” he revealed. “I’m an artist, so I understand the needs of creatives like me. I know how we think, how we feel when we’re in our elements, and even when we get caught up in the fame, money, and success.”
His experience as an artist gives him a unique ability to manage and mentor other creatives effectively. However, Olamide also acknowledges the limits of his capacity. “If I were to think purely about the business and money, I’d probably have 20 artists on my label,” he said. “But I know that would take a toll on my mental health, so I only take on what I can handle and focus on those I can truly support.”
Olamide’s grounded approach reflects his maturity in navigating the entertainment world, recognising that perfection is unattainable and that learning from others is more valuable than idolising them. “I stopped looking up to people, but I still learn from them,” he shared, underscoring a mindset of continuous growth.
