When Davido launched into the scene in 2011 with his bold debut single ‘Dami Duro’, where he flaunted his father’s wealth and announced that he was here to stay, the Nigerian music industry didn’t know what to make of him.

Many didn’t regard him highly and didn’t expect a long career from him, but no one could have guessed how much of a relentless hard worker and hit maker David Adeleke would turn out to be.
Nine years later, Davido’s ‘Fall’, that monster hit released in 2017, is certified Gold in the United States of America by the RIAA. ‘Fall’ has sold 500,000 digital units and is also the longest charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.
Davido has in the course of his career scored major collaborations with international artists – Chris Brown, Future, Akon, PopCaan, Khalid, Summer Walker and many others.
Some of his other prominent songs include, ‘Skelewu’, ‘Risky’, ‘Aye’, ‘Blow My Mind’, to mention only a few.
He announced his record deal with Sony in 2016, and soon afterwards established Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), which has signed successful artists like Mayorkun, Peruzzi and others.
Davido has shown himself to be an award winning talent. He has gathered several awards both home and abroad, and is one of the most recognizable faces in the Nigerian music industry. In 2012, his single ‘Dami Duro’ won the Channel O award for ‘Most Gifted Newcomer Video of the Year’. In 2014, he won the ‘BET Best International Act Award’, he also won the 2014 MTV Africa Music Award for ‘Best Male Artist of the Year’.
Davido has consistently put in the work in his craft and today, is one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports. He was recently featured in Billboard’s Africa Now May, 2020 issue alongside Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi.
The artist released his sophomore album A Good Time, in 2019, seven years after Omo Baba Olowo. The album has enjoyed commercial success and Davido has announced that he is working on a new project, A Better Time.
Davido is NET Honours Class of 2020 Most Popular Male Musician, and that’s without a doubt.
