Nollywood star, Dakore Egbuson, today, June 26, 2020, joined 14 panellists, entertainers and subject matter experts on Drug Convos, a live webinar organised by MTN Foundation’s Anti-Substance Abuse Project (ASAP) in commemoration of the 2020 World Drug Day.
Dakore spoke passionately about the importance of strong family support in helping prevent drug abuse amongst young people. She touched on the need for parents to be aware of what these drugs and substances are, and their effects, so they can watch for signs of drug abuse in their children.
Dakore also stressed the need for parents to have a healthy and trusting relationship with their children. “A lot of parents raised their children really strictly, and these kids can’t confide in them, or speak to them when they are struggling with substance abuse or facing peer pressure to use drugs,” she added.
The Drug Convos is an initiative of MTN Foundation in partnership with Business Day newspapers, MTV Base, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and Nigerian Entertainment Today (Netng) in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking also known as ‘World Drug Day’.
Other celebs in attendance include actress Ini Edo, comedian and OAP Nedu Wazobia, singer-actor David Jones David, artiste Praiz, and more.
