Soon after losing out to Manchester United on signing Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea FC have agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata.
The Premier League champions are expected to pay the European champions an initial fee of £58m.
The deal has been reached despite Morata travelling with Real Madrid for their US tour.
He will now leave that and go to London to discuss personal terms with Chelsea and undergo a medical.
The 24-year-old scored 15 league goals in 14 starts for Real Madrid last season as well as three in the UEFA Champions League as he helped the club to a league and European Cup double.
And the £58m will make Morata the second most expensive Premier League signing so far in this transfer window.
Man. United signed Lukaku from Everton for £75m while Arsenal got Alexander Lacazette from Olympique Lyon for a club-record £52m.
Meanwhile, this will be the second time Morata will be leaving Real Madrid, having spent two seasons at Juventus before returning to the Bernabeu in 2016.
His imminent arrival at Chelsea now leaves the door open for Diego Costa to leave the Blues, having been linked to Atletico Madrid or a big money move to China.
When the deal is completed, he will be Chelsea’s third major signing after defender, Antonio Rudiger joined from AS Roma and midfielder, Tiemoué Bakayoko joined from AS Monaco.
