Recently, pop singer Janet Jackson made comeback with a new single featuring reggaeton musician Daddy Yankee, Made For Now. Fans had already spotted the heavy influence of Nigerian pop music on the song: remove the 52-year-old singer and her guest artiste- and the track could have belonged to any of Wizkid, Davido, Mr Eazi and many others.
But on her debut of the song on the Jimmy Fallon Show, she paid tribute to the Yoruba influences of the song by introducing it with talking drums, omele and an unmistakably Yoruba chant. Even King Sunny Ade would be proud!
