In an official statement signed by the office of Students Activities and Involvement, the University explained that contrary to reports, there was no contractual agreement between the two parties because Wizkid stated his unavailability for the chosen date.
‘Many students were disappointed he could not make show and while expressing their disappointment they made statements, which were picked up by social media sites, that are inaccurate and do not reflect our position on this issue. AUN does not have any quarrel with Wizkid and we look forward to welcoming him on our campus at a future date,’ the statement read in part.
The office also took to Twitter to emphasize their position while maintaining that Wizkid is a gentleman.
We would like to once again provide some clarity. @wizkidayo was not bound by any contract through any form of monetary payments.

He has been a gentleman about the whole situation and #AUN still has utmost respect for his music, his work and has much love for him. — AUNacts (@AUNacts) October 27, 2015
We encourage #AUN students and entities to retweet all we have said as much as possible, setting straight what we represent and stand for!
