Bulgarian and Aston villa Football Club footballer Stiliyan Petrov has been reportedly diagnosed with acute Leukaemia, just a week after the Arsenal away game.
Petrov was reported to have complained of feeling ill after his last game at the Emirate Stadium last weekend. He has since then stopped training.
On Wednesday March 28, Petrov underwent blood tests and was confirmed to be suffering from acute Leukaemia. Leukaemia is a type of cancer of the blood or bone marrow characterized by an abnormal increase of immature white blood cells.
McLeish said: ‘It’s that old perspective cliche, but it’s so true, and everybody here is behind Stan and a lot of the guys, everybody, will be shocked by the news.‘
‘But he’s a captain, he’s a leader, he’s a defiant guy and he’s fought many battles on the pitch and I’m sure this is another one he’ll win.
He is likely to miss the big game between Chelsea and his team on Saturday March 31, 2012 (today).
Just some weeks ago, Fabrice Muamba had a cardiac arrest while playing a match at Whitelane stadium and has just been recovering from the attack.
Born July 5, 1979, Petrov started his football career with PFC Montana; he got coach Dimitar Penel impressed, an impression that landed him a 30,000 pounds contract with CSKA Sophia in 1996. He later joined Celtic on an undisclosed fee and in 2006, joined Aston villa on an 8 million pounds worth of transfer. He was manager O’Neil’s first signing as the manager in charge.

Tell Stiliyan Petrov that there is hope for him..Tell him that he should not be afraid of the devices of the devil for I know where God will heal him from that sickness…He did just same before me on a Woman with the same sickness you have been diagnosed for. Let me know if you can.
