T’is the season to binge-watch movies… Isn’t it? Complain about this lockdown period all you want, but the truth is that it’s all for our own good, and it will end eventually.
You won’t get this much time to rest till your next annual leave or school holiday, so you might as well make the best of this season by getting lots of rest and catching up on these really cool Nollywood movies showing on DStv this period.
1. The Washerman
She’s a vlogger, but she has a track record of being very unlucky with love. She says a desperate prayer, asking for love, and it does come, but not quite in the way she imagined.
The Washerman is one of those lighthearted and fun Nollywood movies. You can watch it on Monday, April 6th, at 8:30 am on Africa Magic Showcase.
2. O.P.P (Other People’s Property)
Ben works in a media firm, but he drinks too much. One day, he accidentally takes home a DVD that was meant to be thrown away, just before quitting his job.
Find out what happens what you take other people’s property this Saturday, April 4th at 8:40 am on Africa Magic Urban (Channel 153)
3. A Virgin’s Curse
This movie could be renamed ‘Mr. Lecturer’ after the Eedris Abdulkareem song. Just kidding! The movie follows the story of a randy university professor in the college of medicine. He eventually impregnates a young undergraduate who turns out to be the result of one of his sexual escapades from his university days.
If you’re a Regina Daniel fan, this movie should be right up your alley. A Virgin’s Curse will be showing at 3:15 pm this Saturday, April 4th, on Africa Magic Urban.
4. Tomorrow can wait
A group of college friends reunite for the wedding of their friends Tyler and Desire. Everything unravels when the maid of honour arrives and discovers that the groom-to-be is someone she has a large score to settle with. It features actors like Desmond Elliot, Susan Peters, Jimmy Odukoya, and Munachi Abi.
This movie will be showing on Channel 153, this Friday 3rd April by 10 am.
5. Maid
The title of this movie sounds like a typical Nollywood trope, but it really isn’t. The movie gives us a peek into Nigeria’s judicial system. A woman has been jailed without trial for nearly 10 years, but the only person who can convince her to change her guilty plea is her daughter, who is conspicuously missing.
Maid will be showing at 10:30 am this Thursday, April 2nd, on Africa Magic Showcase (Channel 151).
6. Moms at War
Omoni Oboli and Funke Akindele star in this comedy where two mums who dislike each other take their personal competition to the next level to see their children succeed in school.
The best thing about this movie is that you know people who will go this far in real life. Moms at War is showing this Sunday, April 5th at 7:00 pm on Africa Magic Showcase (Channel 151).
7. Black Men Rock
Featuring John Dumelo, Tamara Eteimo, and others, this movie follows the story of three married sisters. All the skeletons come tumbling out of the cupboard when they go on a group vacation with their husbands, and they must learn to live with the aftermath.
Black Men Rock will be showing on AfricaMagic Showcase on Sunday, April 5th, at 10:20 pm.
8. My Silence
A loyal wife who has endured domestic violence from her philandering husband decides she has had enough but falls for a love scam when she tries to find love elsewhere.
My Silence will be showing on Africa Magic Urban on Monday, April 6th, at 4:45 pm on Africa Magic Urban.
