The newly elected British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has appointed a Nigerian, Olukemi Badenoch as the Junior Minister for Children and Families on Saturday.

Considering the amazing feat that she has achieved, we are not surprised of this well-deserved appointment. In case you’re wondering, here are 8 things about her that you should definitely know.
- Olukemi Badenoch is the Member of Parliament representing Saffron Walden constituency in the UK as the Junior Minister for Children and Families.
- In 2015, she got her first elected political position as a new London Assembly Member and kept that seat during the elections in 2016.
- In 2017, She was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Saffron Walden constituency getting majority votes with 41% and becoming the first woman to represent that constituency.
- Although Olukemi Badenoch was born in Wimbledon, London, she grew up part-time in Lagos and America.
- She moved back to Britain when she turned 16 years old.
- She got her first degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Sussex. She also has a second degree in Law from the University of London.
- She used to be Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke before she married her husband, Hamish Badenoch (who she worked with at the Deutsche Bank). They have two kids; a son and a daughter.
- She first joined the Conservative Party in 2005 at the age of 25.
