There are times when it just seems everything has ganged up against you especially at a time you are broke. Surely you can relate to the following sent in by Philip Ugbah.
Can you remember those times when you had tons of money, and didn’t know what to do with it? No? How about you try a little harder. Nothing still?
This is probably because ‘having tons of money’ is only a dream that many hope to achieve, except you’re related to Dangote or the Otedolas.
However, if you are a regular person like me, what you’ll most likely remember will be times you didn’t have enough money to cater to all your immediate needs, not to talk of ‘wants & desires’.
You’ll remember when you are low on funds and your salary has not been paid, and all your toiletries along with other personal effects gang up against you and finish at the same time.
Very annoying.
1. The toothpaste and soap
That moment after you’ve squeezed the life out of your toothpaste so you can manage to brush your teeth and then you realise your soap is finished as well.
Still you manage to do ‘rub and shine’, only to come out of the bathroom and remember that there is no body cream or perfume so you use your roll-on for both purposes. Lol!
2. When market prices have no chill
How about when you eventually get your salary alert and you feel you’ve made it, only to realise that the bottle of perfume you wanted to buy a month ago for N15,000 now goes for N29,000…
3. Everything but your salary is increasing
Deflated and empty-handed, you decide to visit the neighbourhood supermarket to replace your toiletries and probably settle for a nice body spray only to be confronted by price tags that have doubled since your last visit. All because of ‘Buhari economy’.
Then you are forced to go home, think about your life and cry yourself to sleep because you realise the price of EVERYTHING has increased but your salary has not.
This is not to make fun of ‘broke’ people, as we all have financial struggles especially in this ‘era of recession’.
Depending on your monthly salary alone is no longer an option, so I’m going to suggest a few ways to make extra money.
Now before you suggest sports betting, MMM or any other gamble or ponzi scheme, how about you find ways to monetise your talents or what you’re passionate about.
