A new and exciting stage feature from producers of ‘The Wives’ has been announced as the play to light up foremost theatre and cultural centre, Terra Kulture for the month of October.
Directed the Kenneth Uphopho, Artistic Director of British Council’s organised Lagos Theatre Festival, ‘Yoruba Romance’ is another wonderful stage production which will keep theatre lovers entertained every Sunday in October at Terra kulture.
The epic comedy, according to producers, is about a marriage proposal gone wrong as Ladoja wants to marry Ynneka a.k.a Nneka, who is Chief Evan’s daughter. But his attempt at proposing to the beauty is met with an unexpected response about who owns what lands and horses!
Written Tyrone Terrence, who said the play is an adaptation of Marriage Proposal, the 17th century Russian play by Anton Chekhov, is a hilarious comedy about the age-old mating ritual between man and woman.
According to him, the play employs the use of different kinds of humor to explore some of the more deep-seated prejudices we have concerning inter-tribal relationships and features notable actors such as Odenike, Patrick Diabuah, Omololu Shodiya and Ijeoma Aniebo.
The play is directed by the AMVCA nominated actor and stage director, Kenneth Uphopho who playa prominent role in Rita Dominic’s The Meeting.
The play will show every Sunday in October – 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th – with two shows slated for 3pm & 6pm at Terra Kulture on Tiamiyu Savage Street, VI.
Tickets go for N3000 while VIP tickest cost N5000.
