The Super Eagles of Nigeria have won their first match at the World Cup finals thanks to a sole strike from Osaze Odemwingie.
The Stoke City forward’s single goal was enough to beat an enthusiastic Bosnia and Herzegovina in their second game in Group F, played on June 21, 2014 at the Arena Pantanal stadium in Cuiabá, Brazil. Odemwingie scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute after receiving a pass from Emmanuel Emenike.
The Super Eagles weren’t tipped to win the match, following an unimpressive goalless draw in their first game against Iran. Team coach Stephan Keshi moments before the match however assured Nigerians of victory.
Nigeria currently as four points from two matches and will go on to face Argentina in the final group match on June 25, 2014.
