Colombia sealed their last group stage match with a victory to advance to the group of sixteen in the World cup.
The match, played against Japan on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Arena Pantanal, Cuiabá, saw the Colombian side snatch the top spot with a 4 – 1 victory in Group C.
Two goals from Jackson Martinez and one each from Juan Cuadrado and James Rodríguez sealed the Colombians their third straight win. Japan later recorded a goal from Mainz’s player Shinji Okazaki, but that wasn’t enough to keep them in the tournament.
