Algeria defeated South Korea 4-2 on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Estadio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre.
The Greens now have three points after bouncing back from a first defeat against Belgium to revive their hopes of qualifying for the next round. Goals from Islam Slimani, Rafik Halliche and Abdelmoumene Djabou gave the Algerians the lead in first forty five minutes of clash.
In the second half, Heung-Min gave a glimmer of hope to South Korea, but that couldn’t stop Yacine Brahimi from recording a fourth goal for the greens. In the 72nd minute, Koo Ja-Cheol scored a consolation goal for the South Korean side.
Algeria will face Russia in the last group stage clash to fight for a spot in the round of sixteen, while South Korea will face Belgium with the hope of also securing a spot.
