Organisers of Nigeria’s biggest music honours event ‘The Headies‘ announced today, the inauguration of a special ‘prize giving’ event where last year’s winners are to be officially decorated.
Executive producer Ayo Animashaun tells NET plans have been concluded to present last year’s big winner Wizkid with the brand new Hyndia sedan he won as ‘Next Rated act’. Other 2011 big winners, including 2face Idibia, Don Jazzy, Darey, and Ice Prince are also to receive certificates and customized plaques which, according to Animashaun, have just arrived from England. The 21 carat-gold Headies plaques have become the most coveted music prize in Nigeria, with many creators working hard to be recognized.
A total of 23 Plaques will be given to last year’s winners- 2face, Don Jazzy, Darey, Ice Prince, MI, Waje, DJ Tee, Modenine, Cabo Snoop, eLDee, Femi, Dr. Sid, Jah Bless and WizKid with Wizkid leaving with the biggest prize- a brand new Hyundai Sonata 2011.
The prize event we’re told will hold on Monday July 23, a day before the announcement of 2012 nominees.
This year’s event will hold in the last quarter, other details will only be made available on July 23, according to the Headies secretariat.
