The global rise of Afrobeats continues to take center stage as the American Music Awards (AMAs) unveil an electrifying list of nominees for the Best Afrobeats Artist category.
Leading the charge are some of the genre’s biggest powerhouses, including Burna Boy, Rema, and Wizkid, all of whom have played pivotal roles in pushing African music to global audiences.
They are joined by fast-rising Ghanaian-American star MOLIY and South African sensation Tyla, whose recent international success has further expanded the sound and reach of Afrobeats and its sister genres. Together, the nominees reflect a vibrant mix of established icons and new-generation hitmakers shaping the future of African music.
Tyla clinched the Favorite Afrobeats Artist award at the 2025 American Music Awards, beating top contenders like Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake.
The win marks a major milestone for Tyla, while Wizkid remains notable as the first-ever recipient of the category, having won the inaugural Favorite Afrobeats Artist award in 2022.
The American Music Awards ceremony is set to air live on May 25, 2026.
