The 2017 Australian Open is set for an interesting climax after sisters, Venus and Serena Williams, reached the final of tennis’ first Grand Slam of 2017.
It is the ninth time the siblings will meet in the final of a tennis major, with this being the first both will contest for since the 2009 Wimbledon final.
Older sister, Venus was first through to the final, coming from a set down to defeat fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 this morning.

Her younger sister and world number two, Serena then made light work of Croatia’s Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
The final will see Venus chasing an eighth major title while Serena will be out to set a new open-era record with a 23rd title.
Serena heads into Saturday’s final as favourite, with a better head-to-head record of 16 wins against her sister who has won 11 of their 27 previous meetings.
The younger of the Williams also leads their head-to-head in Grand Slam finals, with six wins against Venus’ two.
