For the first time since Square Records sacked their artiste, Akinmayokun ‘May D’ Awodumila, the label boss, Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye has explained his dismissal.
The multi-talented music video director told HipOnTV in a recent interview about why the ‘Ile ijo’ singer was dropped from the label.
According to the older Okoye, May D was making very tall demands on the label. ‘When it was time to officially sign him (May D), that was when the problem came up. He wanted to have what Psquare had and so we had to let him go,’ he said.
Since signing with P-Square in 2011, May D had become a household name, with the release of his hit singles, ‘Soundtrack’ the infectious ‘Ile-ijo’ and the more recent ‘Got me high.’
Since getting dropped from the label in August of 2012, the winner of the Best R&B single at The Headies 2012, has gone on to establish his own label, Confam Entertainment.

That is a big lie. He was sacked because he was a threat to Psquare’s career. May D is far better than Psquare. He outshined Psquare in the two tracks they featured him.
Stop saying rubbish psquare have been in game while may d not yet discovered. Why claiming the same cut.
