Fine , fresh talent. The gifted actress has been there. She’s done plenty. And pundits say it’s about time moves up to join the A-league. We had an interesting quickie with her on Thursday June 2. You’ll enjoy!
For how long did you live in Lagos before moving to Abuja?
My family was literally nomadic….that’s what I like to say because, Dad was always moving. Small wonder I can’t stay in one town..hahahaha….Transfers from his then workplace so we moved from Ilorin to Lagos in 1989 and I relocated in 2005.
What took you to Abuja in the first place?
After I had quit banking, I did take up a job as a brand marketing manager in a male fashion company which had no presence in Abuja and seeing that I had lost all my property in a strange Lagos downpour, I convinced my then boss and relocated to Abuja. So it is safe to say the rains in Lagos pursued me… Can you imagine waking up in my small crib in Ikoyi and floating with electric appliances….Now it’s funny, but I dare say it was a nightmare at the time.
What’s it like being a sexy single lady living in a powerful town like abuja?
Hehehehehehe sexy ko, sexy ni…..single…errr… I manage. I don’t let the town overwhelm me. I guess once you have stayed for as long as I have it becomes like any other town.
Is it true you’re moving back to Lagos?
I was hoping you won’t ask that question. Where did you hear that from? I am seriously thinking about it. I miss my mum a lot, so it’ll be nice to be back so we can se more often. I’d also like to cash in on opportunities my career has to offer…
Have you watched any of your own movies before? What do you think of your acting?
Yes I have… When I attended the premieres of movies I had featured in, I saw people in my body. It starts off somewhat embarrassing to watch especially when I see mistakes, moments that I could have done better. My acting….it needs a lot more improvement. With more work… I am not the proverbial lizard.
Why do people say you belong to The Emem Isong-Rita Dominic clique?
It is bound to happen that as friends, people will assume anything.
Emem Isong is my friend and she gave me a platform for my return to the industry and I have done a few movies with her, recently I even accused her of sidelining me…And as for Rita, our friendship goes way beyond Nollywood. So if being friends with them mean I am in a clique….then…what can I say?
And all these romance-love-pseudo sex scenes!!! How do you pull that off?
You make it sound so fancy….hahahaha it’s, the point where I am no longer Nse and I assume the character I am meant to play. If I am meant to be in love, I wake the feeling up and see a lover in the other character. We have to make it as real as possible and the eyes of an actor can betray him so if you do not feel it, the audience cannot feel it. Worse still, the camera picks everything.
On what set have you had the most fun?
Hmmmmm I tell you that is a really difficult question to answer. Every set had its peculiarities. (Scratches head) I can’t say…because I have the ability to create and have fun anywhere.
What new movies are you currently working on?
I just finished ‘Mr. and Mrs.’ and have a few roles I am being considered for. The Kunle Afolayan one is next line. I am excited. I have rested enough.
Your thoughts on your following colleagues: Mercy Johnson, Joke Silva, Genevieve, Jim Iyke and Kate Henshaw?
Kai! The sexy Mercy Johnson…I honestly think she is an amazing actor…. Aunty Joke is a woman after my heart both on stage and on screen, Genevieve always brings something new…brilliant actor. Jim, (superman) a leading man any day….and as for Kate, it doesn’t get any better, stage or on screen she lights it up with her creative interpretation.
What do you do aside acting?
I run an outdoor catering service…cooking is my other passion.
