Actress Mercy Johnson who was reportedly in a showdown with her older colleague, Patience Ozokwor on location in Asaba few weeks back, has blamed her uncontrollable outburst on Ozokwor’s repeated utterances referring to her as an ‘ashawo’- a hoochie.
In a telephone interview, Mercy recounted her side of the story to NET. She noted that Patience Ozokwor was given a revealing clothe to wear on that location, apparently to depict a character in the movie that was in the making and Patience allegedly refused the outfit, stating that she is not Mercy Johnson, not an ‘ashawo’.
“I’m not a prostitute. I don’t like the name. I told her I didn’t like it”, Mercy told NET. According to her, the faceoff was escalated when Mama Gee refused to stop calling her by unpleasant name.
By last week, there were unconfirmed reports that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) might take a disciplinary action against Mercy Johnson and Patience Ozokwor but when NET contacted the AGN president, Segun Arinze via SMS, he simply stated that the issue has been sorted out in-house.
The text message read “Hello sir, I just want to know if the AGN is taking any disciplinary action against Mercy Johnson and Patience Ozokwor”.
“No it’s sorted out. Thanks”, he replied. Arinze would not comment further.
Arinze, sources said, has instructed both parties not to make any further comments on the matter.

FIRST, Nollywood does not have wise critics
SECONDLY, acting as it is, is not ones life but a situation where by one puts him or herslft into a character and portrays what it’s like to be that character, so if you want to critisize, do that to the movie itself not the actors or actresses besides they have their directors who tell them what they want to be done, so if a movie goes bad, blame the directors and producers.
FURTHERMORE, they have the other crew members like the costume manager and others who are surposed to be experts in their field. For instance, if you happen to be in a medical school, studying to be a surgeon, will you not save lives because you have phobia for blood? Please my fellow critics, think wisely and observe before making your statement because these people are laying themselves bare to keep you excited. All i can say to the actors and actresses is this(with no disrespect to mercy JOHNSON), if you know that you are ready and certain that you want to take on these extreme rolls, try and work out often and put yourself into shape, “MERCY” you are too roburst to be putting on skimpy outfits on set, i must confess but that doesn’t mean you’re not too good on set ok, same for others out there and as for you “MADAM PATIENCE OZOKWOR”, my mother loves you when you’re on set but please tell yourself the truth, if you were still in mercys’ age and with her physique, would you have turned down the offer made to you? just as in most of your movies, you always go to the native doctor, being the wicked person and all that, do you think people don’t dispice that sometimes?
