Bear with me. It is not going to take long, I really won’t waste your time.
I think we can all agree on one thing. The 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump is a bare-faced lying, good for nothing, tax-dodging, serial adulterer, draft-evading, sexual-assaulting, pussy-grabbing, bigot, veteran-insulting, Russian-lackey, small business-swindling, numerous times bankrupt, isolationist, racist excuse for a man.
Now that is out of the way, we can talk about how exactly he is the greatest since George Washington.
Trump was elected on an odious platform; to build a wall against the Mexicans, who he called rapists and murderers, and of course roll back the liberal gains achieved under Obama.
Just like every other politician since the Greeks, Donald preached that the leader he was seeking to replace was actually the worst ever leader that has ever ruled.
After running a punishing campaign based on abuse and ridicule, Donald also defied the odds, the polls and political pundits’ predictions to clinch the presidency. Just like every other underdog politician, right?
No. Because unlike every other politician since time began, Donald is already taking major steps to achieve his campaign promises. Barely 10 days since he was sworn into office, he has already signed a raft of executive orders to actualise his demonic agenda.
The most prominent of the orders has been to ban travellers from seven Muslim countries from travelling into the US. This has of course generated a lot of criticism and reproach from the press and general public.
Which is surprising because Donald actually campaigned on a #MuslimBan platform before even the Republican primaries. The joke is on you if you didn’t believe he would win and carry out his campaign promises.
The other more prominent of his executive orders is for the building of the wall on the southern border of the United States to separate it from its neighbour Mexico. This was actually a major plank of the Trump campaign. Building the wall and getting the Mexicans to pay for it.
He may or may not be able to get Mexico to pay for the wall but at the very least he is trying to do exactly what he promised. No matter how nauseating the man or his character is.
Isn’t that what we want from our leaders and rulers? To do exactly what they promised and campaigned on. To stick to their promises and carry out their plans as soon as they are elected into the office. No matter how insidious and repulsive they may be.
Isn’t that also what we want from those around us? Our friends and lovers. To keep each and every of the promises they made to us before we began the relationship.
So hate or love Donald Trump – in fact, I would recommend that you hate him for he is a terrible man – but you can’t deny that so far he has been a great president.
